We are often asked what we think of Hetzner as a Cloud Provider.
For us as a Swiss IT service provider for Linux and Open Source, Hetzner is one of several preferred cloud providers. Their offering is inexpensive and, in our experience, works reliably. However, some of the technical aspects are somewhat unusual. For example, compared to clouds based on OpenStack, such as the Swiss provider Infomaniak, the network has to be handled differently. The German company Hetzner, with data centres in Germany, Finland and the US, is used by our customers when cloud infrastructures need to be cost-effective and there are no data protection reasons against it – mostly for hosting test environments.
